SPY Charts and some Technical Analysis Today's Economic Calendar - The Charts - Opinion. Today's Economic Calendar: 7:00 AM ET, The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) will release the results for the mortgage purchase applications index.8:30 AM, Gross Domestic Product, 3rd quarter 2021 (Third estimate). The second estimate of GDP was 2.1%.8:30 AM, Chicago Fed National Activity Index for November. This is a composite index of other data.10:00 AM, Existing Home Sales for November from the National Association of Realtors (NAR). The consensus is for 6.20 million SAAR, down from 6.34 million. Housing economist Tom Lawler expects the NAR to report sales of 6.45 million SAAR for November. THE CHARTS: (NOTE: Charts are a guide, do other research as well.) BRIEFING/OPINIONS: The market had a huge rebound rally day on Tuesday. With the big gains, the S&P closed back above the 50-day moving average. On our chart indicators we notice that the Money Flow has turned positive here. Note: Currently the market is still being moved by news events and fears. Due to this, the charts may mean a bit less. We are still marking a wide trading range of SPY 450-470. CHANGES: We are back over the 50-day moving average. The Money Flow went positive. NOTES: We were expecting a sideways range bound market to develop, OR a resumption of the previous uptrend. Currently the market is in a trading range. 'Buying the dip' has been working. Risks: Negative budget or inflation headlines, political uncertainty, and/or Covid fears. SPY 450 is our support level. OUTLOOK: Risks and fears have dropped us into a trading range.Longer-term questions to ask: When will the Fed's easy money and the stimulus sugar run out?Will higher inflation cause the Fed to raise rates? Covid still hurting the economy?Supply chain issues?We still say "Use Caution". Do not over risk yourself or over leverage yourself.We are still susceptible to large drops or dips.Look for trading opportunities that could result and have your trading lists ready. * Be careful if using MARGIN, be certain of your trades! *INDICATORS: The MACD is positive. The Stochastics are neutral. The Money Flow is positive. MA +/- (slope): The 50-day MA (458.84)(+0.60) and the 200-day MA (431.48)(+0.41) The 8-month chart (below).
