BUY SOUTHWEST, SELL UNITED: Redburn analyst James Goodall initiated coverage of United Airlines ($UAL) with a Sell rating. While he acknowledged that the road to recovery for the U.S. Airlines is already well under way," Goodall sees United as "most challenged" among the group due to elevated capital expenditures and a "more sedate margin recovery" outlook than peers. He also noted that the company's enterprise value is "at historic peak levels." Additionally, Goodall started coverage of Southwest ($LUV) with a Buy rating as he sees Southwest in "the most favorable position" among the group given a balance sheet that should enable the business to grow out of the crisis. PATH TO $5-PLUS IN EPS NEXT YEAR: Baird analyst Mark Altschwager upgraded Bath & Body Works ($BBWI) to Outperform from Neutral with an $85 price target. The analyst sees a path to $5-PLUS in earnings per share next year. Altschwager also argued that tough near-term comparisons are "more than outweighed" by the stock's roughly 50% valuation discount to a beauty/CPG/durable-growth-brand peer group. LACK OF VISIBILITY: Wells Fargo analyst Kate Fitzsimons resumed coverage of Dick's Sporting ($DKS) with an Equal Weight rating and $108 price target. The analyst is staying on the sidelines given lack of visibility on a normalized promotional environment and her view that margins likely peaking after two years of strong comps. LESS CONFIDENCE: Jefferies analyst Stephanie Wissink downgraded WW ($WW) to Hold from Buy with a price target of $30, down from $41. On Tuesday, WW reported second quarter results with member counts that were in range, but management lowered their outlook, giving Wissink less confidence in revenue cadence and near-term momentum. While the analyst's confidence is shaken in the near-term revenue pace, she highlights that the company benefits from a restart each year and sees long-term areas of intrigue.Disclosure: I may trade in the ticker symbols mentioned, both long or short.
